Christmas in Plant City, FL

Santa is arriving in Plant City, Florida tonight at the town’s annual Christmas parade and the children can hardly wait.

Chairs of every shape, size and color line Collins Street through the historic downtown area in anticipation of the 7PM start.

Don’t even think of driving your vehicle anywhere near the parade route for at least two hours because you will be totally distracted by the eager looks on faces of every age. This is a family affair and a longstanding tradition of 29 years.

Last night McCall Park was filled with friendly folks who came out to watch the Lights of Love tree light up for the first time and have photos made with Santa.

Now begins the Christmas productions and musical presentations from so many of the churches here in our charming little town. Thankfully, this is a faith-filled community and I for one, am grateful for that.

Bless You, Lord, for planting me here. It is a pleasant place, indeed.

Thanks for checking in!

How can a writer be without words? Hands frozen on the keys, here I sit at almost midnight, hoping the mind will push some insightful thoughts down through the fingers so they’ll pour out onto the page.

Sometimes that happens to me and especially after I’ve been reading some very good books or blogs. Thoughts roll around in my head and refuse to settle down – refuse to allow me to focus, to follow the narrowing trail.

What then?

Tonight it means goodnight. Time for rest. It’s been a good day – a Saturday with few obligations – with time for friends and family.

Sometimes no words are necessary. Sometimes we just need to be.

Sleep well, friends.

Maybe tomorrow the words will come.
