Cheryl Johnston writes because she “can’t not write.”
Her life’s mission is “through writing and teaching, to help others discover the joy, peace, and fulfillment found in a life with Christ.”
With her husband RJ, this retired English and Journalism teacher enjoys family gatherings, enduring friendships, and golfing in Central Florida. Presently, she serves her community as managing editor for Focus Magazine (focusplantcity.com) and serves her church as Christian Education Director. She loves to mentor younger writers and maintains memberships in National League of American Pen Women (NLAPW.com) Word Weavers International (Tampa), and Brandon Christian Writers.
The unedited version of her “Wings of Peace” story in Heaven Touching Earth (Bethany House Publishing, Sept. 2014) was selected for inclusion as “Wings of Love” in the Best Angel Stories 2014 (Guidepost Books). “Early Came the Healer” is included in Woman of the Secret Place (Ambassador International, 2012). Hundreds of published articles in Focus Magazine (focusplantcity.com) include event coverage, business promotions, human interest profiles and personal experiences.
Inspirational real life stories are her favorites to write, and especially those that point others to God.
Among her best-loved Scripture verses about writing are these:
Habakkuk 2:2 (NIV) instructs –“Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets, so that a herald[a] may run with it.”
Psalm 45:1 (NIV) –“My heart is stirred by a noble theme as I recite my verses for the king; my tongue is the pen of a skillful writer.”
II Corinthians 1:13 (NIV) –“For we do not write you anything you cannot read or understand.”
